Last item from the Firearms Curiosa

There are a lot of strange and odd (and yes, you can be strange and odd, try it ) devices in the Firearms Curiosa. Well, it is a book about unusual weaponry. This will be the last one I'll be looking at for this blog.

Albert Pratt in 1916 also had the wonderful idea of combining armor with guns ( see previous entry ) and came up with a pistol helmet.

Mr. Pratt was a practical man, working into his design for the crown to be detached, "inverted, and used as a cooking utensil." ( Firearms Curiosa, Page 260 ) The barrel serves as the handle while the spike anchors the utensil to the ground for cooking. To fire the gun, there is a "pneumatic bulb" which the wearer blows through to activate the trigger. So, for safety's sake, don't sneeze while your just talking with someone or you might blow their head clean off.
The last entry in the description reads; "I get headaches and I prefer to have someone else test the gun."
     No sh--t, really?
Mr. Pratt assures us that there should be no discomfort caused by the recoil. I'm assuming that due to brain damage, one would be unable to receive pain signals from the body.
